Special Needs Preschool Program

The Preschool program is designed to meet the needs of developmentally delayed children up to six years of age in the Brookings School District

The school district holds screenings six times a year. Parents who reside in the Brookings School District and are concerned about their child's development, may call the Brookings School Administration office to schedule a screening.

The preschool program has three basic types of programming. The child may be placed in a home-bound program, an individualized therapy program, or a small group therapy based classroom setting. The child's age and his/her special needs will determine the type of programming.

The goal of the preschool classroom is to provide a structured, supportive setting where children can participate in a variety of activities appropriate to their level of development.
